Marmaris is one of Turkey’s most established port cities. Once a small fishing village, it is now one of the south west’s most prominent tourist resorts, with holidaymakers from around the world flooding in to the city to enjoy its climate, nightlife and exceptional scenery.
However, the city’s beaches are one of its strongpoints that are often overlooked. Predominantly stone, tourists tend to opt for the sandy beaches of the country, but the views and sites afforded by Marmaris make them every bit as enjoyable. With cheap flights to the city now in regular supply, now is the best time to see what it has to offer you.
Beautiful Beaches on Your Doorstep
If you’re visiting the centre of Marmaris, then the Folk Beach is right on your doorstep. Because it’s next to the city proper, a number of events and festivals are regularly held on the beach, and the convenience of being able to access the sea from your hotel is a huge advantage.
Venturing outside of Marmaris centre will yield a host of other beaches; not as convenient in their location to the city, but certainly more attractive in what they have to offer.
The Icmeler Beach, located about six miles from the centre, has clear azure waters and has regular water sport activities on throughout the year. Jet skis, scuba diving, fishing and a multitude of other sports are at your disposal, but the view afforded whilst at the beaches is perhaps its best offering. The mountains and surrounding greenery are especially beautiful here, making it an all-round great day out.
You’ll find every type of holiday on the beautiful sun drenched coast of Southern Turkey. From picturesque fishing villages to modern beach resorts, rugged snowcapped mountains to historical ancient ruins – there is quite simply something for everyone. Read more »
